I've been a very busy girl since my last post, but unfortunately, I haven't been doing many new or exciting things lately. It's just business as usual...preparing for a science exam and tooth anatomy quiz each week, going to class every day, and trying to stay on top of the work load when an occasional practical and presentation are thrown into the mix. Our practical for this week was to build a full crown of wax on a mandibular lateral incisor. Here are some pictures that one of my classmates took right before I turned in my practical for grading.

Alan (the guy that took those photos and many of the others that I have posted on my blog) has also put together a "video" of our first quarter of dental school. The poor guy had his appendix out yesterday, so I think he is a little bored recovering at home and has been busy working with pictures! Here is a link to a video he created: "first few months of dental school". Let me know if anyone has trouble with the link and I may be able to find another way to share it with you all!
In other news, I'm starting to miss the typical fall activities that go on this time of year. Northwestern's homecoming is this weekend, and it is the first one that I will have missed since I started going there! Also, as much as I am loving the warm weather (FYI...I have my air conditioning on right now), it seems weird to be decorating my apartment with Halloween decorations and picking out my Halloween costume without that brisk chill in the air. There are also no leaves to change colors. It makes me wonder if the seasons change at all down here. I do have plenty of Halloween activities planned though. The Arizona Dental Association is having their annual "Boo Bash" Halloween party that a bunch of my classmates are attending. There are also a few Halloween parties I might check out now that I have my costume together, although you'll have to wait to find out what it is! I think my roommate and I are also trying to go to the Arizona state fair on Halloween weekend. It seems that there is some exotic food to try...chocolate covered bacon, deep fried scorpion, sauteed meal worms served on a bun with BBQ sauce, deep fried frog legs, and even reindeer hot dogs (according to the fair's website). What should we try first? ;) Anyway, I should actually get back to work. Hopefully in my next post, I'll have lots of fun stories to share regarding all my fun Halloween activities...maybe then it will feel like fall!
