newsworthy

I hate watching the news.  I can't stand having to watch all the bad news, the boring news, and the cheesy new stories just to hear a few interesting stories.  Normally I just read various news articles online to keep me in the know.  Today, I actually had the news on in the background while I puttered around the apartment.  Turns out, there was some news worth sharing.

The weather segment was interesting.  Apparently, us Phoenicians have entered the "monsoon season".  That means that is has rained 0.04 inches in the wettest part of the valley today.  HA.  It's rained approximately for about 1/2 an hour the entire summer I have been here at school.  It also means that it is humid.  Humidity + 105 degree weather = no fun.  I also laughed because the weatherman said that "cooler temperatures" are on their way and happily reported that in the next week, temperatures range between 100 and 105 degrees.  Boy, what a cold snap.  Another interesting weather tidbit: so far in Phoenix this year, there have been 52 days over 100 degrees.  There have been 15 days over 110 degrees.  Conclusion?  I live on the surface of the sun.

And speaking of cheesy news stories, the MWU dental clinic was featured on the local news this morning.  Feel free to check out the clip.  Personally, I find the clip incredibly corny.  But corny publicity is good publicity, right?

(And I seriously hope to have a decent life update posted soon.  I have some cool rat stories to share that are so much better with pictures and video.  Also, I had a fun weekend worth bragging about.)
