...I certainly do now.
After finding numerous crickets and 2 scorpions in my apartment, I thought I had seen all the insects Arizona had to offer. That was until I met this guy.
He is a Palo Verde Beetle. I was walking out of the clinic this afternoon behind some of the PAs (practice assistants). They made it to the door first. One of them took on step outside, screamed at the top of her lungs and ran back inside. Obviously I has to see what caused such a commotion. It was a beetle that was at least 6 inches long. It was DISGUSTING. And apparently they can fly. I think I will have nightmares.
And a word to my motorcycle riding people, my internet research says that these beetles are a danger to motorcycle riders. If you hit one while riding, they can cause some serious injuries due to their large size and hard shell. So make sure you wear a face shield if you are riding through the American Southwest during the summer.

One more reason for Dad NOT to ride the bike to AZ those things are just nasty!
