mother knows best

(I promised her I would write that.)

So yesterday I blogged about a terrible cough I currently have.  It's been one week, and I am not feeling any better.  After a sleepless night and a really crummy day, my defenses were down and I let my mother convince me to go to the urgent care center (or "doc in the box" as it is known in my family).  It was a good idea.  Turns out I have bronchitis.  Hooray for me.  I was sent home with 3 separate prescriptions.  Since I am a nerd, I used the online drug reference guide to look up information on the drugs and all the crazy side effects (one perk of living on campus and bootlegging the school's internet = unlimited access to library references).  Here are some highlights:

"Isolated cases of abnormal behavior including mental confusion and visual hallucinations have been reported; may be related to prior sensitivity to related agents (eg, tetracaine, procaine) or interaction with concurrent medications."

"May cause CNS depression, which may impair physical or mental abilities; patient must be cautioned about performing tasks which require mental alertness (eg, operating machinery or driving)."

Sounds like a good time, right? Mental confusion? Drowsiness? Not performing tasks that require mental alertness?  Guess I should let Tom do most of the drilling and filling this week. Or maybe not...could be fun...
