guest blogger!

I have been wanting to have a guest blogger for some time now.  All the real bloggers have posts written by a guest blogger.  But alas, nobody I know ever seemed to be down with the idea.  It's really not terribly difficult to write about either dentistry or life in Arizona, but there were never any volunteers.  Well, I still don't have any volunteers, but after a fair amount of begging and arm twisting, I finally convinced Lauren to spend a few minutes typing about her adventure in Arizona so far this trip.  So without further ado, I present the first official guest blogger on Arizona Tooth Tales: Lauren!

Hi everyone! Yes she did have to twist my arm & beg. Perhaps I should make her buy the next lunch. Which is all I feel like we do eat, play & sleep. Repeat. No complaints there! We have been busy & on the go enjoying the weather. I keep saying, I don't care what I do-- as long as it is outside!

Saturday we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at a delicious Mexican restaurant called Macayos with a group of about 5 or 6 other dental friends. Then we did see a movie (another arm twist as we saw The Advengers. Anyone who knows me, knows I like romantic comedies).
On Sunday we soaked up the sun and layed by the pool all day. So wonderful except for the bad sunburn I got. Side note: don't forget to put sunscreen on your feet. We grilled out on the patio for dinner, and then met another friend for 'Fro-Yo' A.K.A. frozen yogurt. Mix your own & add any type of toppings you want. Its a good thing they don't have these in IL.
Yesterday on Monday we went to Firehouse subs (Another good thing they don't have in IL) followed by an afternoon at "As you Wish" which was paint your own pottery. I painted a bowl that probably looks like it was painted by a 10 year old. It was still a fun activity and I will have to fill you in on the finished look once we pick it up on Thursday. On the way home we decided that we should get some exercise in from all this eating and we went to go hiking at a mountain that is out her back window. Very nice being outside, but once you made it to the top the wind kicked up & talk about an unpleasant feeling with my contacts. Dust everywhere! Still a good form of exercise... but kind of the same feeling as after a NASCAR race-- that you had 10lbs of dust and dirt on you. My nice white shoes are now a new shade of tan.

Today we went to lunch at a delish Chinese restaurant with another friend. Some of the best (if not THE best Orange Chicken) I've had. After lunch we followed up at the outdoor outlet malls. I found some things that will be good for work and some workout clothes that came in handy for our next activity. ZUMBA. Talk about feeling like a fish out of water. It was my first time doing ZUMBA, and I have mixed feelings. As being someone with little hand/eye coordination, NO dance skills.... I was a little nervous. Everyone kept saying "nobody watches you, they watch the instructor".  Bologna. I felt like all eyes were on me, when people were going right...and I was going left.  In all fairness- It would be a great class to keep up with. I can see why people like it. The music was awesome. I just have no 'booty shakin' or dancing skills. I think it would have been easier if there was a ZUMBA beginner 101 class to begin with. Something where they would teach you step by step before being thrown into it.

Tomorrow is the big dental day. Wish me luck. It will be a strange feeling being the paient and having the dentist be Dana. After that we are headed to an Arizona Diamondback game.

  1. Congrats on finding a willing guest blogger! Sounds like you are packing lots of fun things to do into Lauren's vacation. She never was very good at applying sunscreen! She might just want to stay out there with you.
