interesting fact of the day

I came across this factoid while studying for my quiz tomorrow (on the masticatory cycle...no dirty thoughts please...it refers to the movements of the jaw while CHEWING). Your teeth only contact each other for 11.7 minutes out of the whole day. Weird huh? I guess I never thought about it before, but most of the time, even when my mouth is closed, my teeth are not touching. This prevents the strong forces that our jaw muscles can produce from tearing down the teeth. And some people don't believe in divine design...
