Coming up on May 4 is MWU Research Day, where students have the opportunity to present their research to faculty and friends on campus. Lately, I have been crazy busy with class and haven't had much time to spend in the "rat lab". Luckily, my awesome research advisor has really helped me out by taking care of most of the work leading up to Research Day presentations. She submitted abstracts on behalf of all the students in her lab and even ordered the posters we needed to present. (I am so thankful for the faculty that understand the rigors of professional school and go out of their way to help a poor student out.) Anyway, it turns out that she submitted an abstract to Experimental Biology for another student's project. But because I helped out with some of that project, my name was also on it (listed way down as like 5th or 6th author, but I don't care). That means I might get published if the journal thinks the project sounds interesting enough. EEK! Exciting! Later this summer, she might submit my project to a journal for publication! That would be wild! I would be listed as first or second author, which is kind of a huge deal.
Now you can be published like your smart little sister. Except mines in a textbook, not a journal. Still very exciting :) and cute wreath. We didn't decorate because someone is leaving me.
