Bootcamp has been a mixed blessing so far. I am almost halfway through the 6 week program. Watching every little thing I put in my mouth and logging very calorie online is a pain. I feel like I have to constantly obsess over food to be successful at eating the right ratios of protein, carbs, and fat. I don't like feeling like THAT crazy person who can't live a little. That being said, constantly watching my intake has forced me to get a little creative. I have discovered new brands of food that are better for me nutritionally (brown cow blueberry greek yogurt...YUM) and tried new recipes that I love. The Easter Bunny sent me a magazine that had an article about $28 for groceries that you cook once and eat for a week. It has been perfect for this week. On Saturday, I roasted a whole chicken, which was something I had ever done before. It came out amazing and was so simple. Then, you use the rest of the chicken in various dishes over the course of the week. So far I have tried chicken/goat cheese quesadillas and thai chicken lettuce wraps. Both recipes took like 20 minutes and are definitely worth making on a regular basis. Bonus? It was a health magazine and so all the recipes are under 500 calories. Another good thing about this eating plan is that it gives me so much energy. I can't believe how much better I feel not putting so much junk in my body. (But I am craving a big fat juicy hamburger still...I guess I am a work in progress!) The classes are still kicking my butt a bit. I am beginning to enjoy going a bit more (except when we do lunges...I LOATHE lunges). Usually, I am still sore for days afterwards. But it is paying off. I have lost 4 pounds in the first 2 weeks, and I noticed my arms are getting more toned (yay!).
In other random news, I am very thankful for my friends and their senses of humor. Kathleen sent me this photo in an email that was titled "granny says good luck on your exams...mwuhahaha!". I had completely forgotten about this time my senior year in college where we dressed up as senior citizens for "senior day".

Then I had the following ridiculous albeit hilarious conversation over g-chat tonight with my friend Vicki...(quick background information: Vicki is a 5th grade teacher...while we were having this conversation, she was sitting at the airport waiting to catch a red-eye to New York):
We are hilarious. Or maybe it just seems that way because it is late at night and most things become funnier the later you stay up. So I should probably go to bed. Apparently the quick post wasn't as short as I thought it would be. I promise I will try and get the other posts up soon though. I have some cool pictures about the CAD/CAM and some gross stories from the forensics lecture (one of the best we've had all year). Until then...
Vicki: oh we've been videotaping our science experiments.
they are hilarious.
me: any mold yet?
I just found some in my fridge
starwberries I bought less than a week ago!
Vicki: oh. my. god. so. much. mold
my room smells awful
me: hahahaha
febreeze that shit
Vicki: it smells like mold, soap, borax, and hot sauce
from various science projects
me: eww...hearing about that combo alone makes me want to vomit
Vicki: i'm a champion.
me: your sub for the rest of the week doesn't know what they are getting into...ha
Vicki: I KNOW. my kids are psycho.
and my room is disgusting.
poor subs.
my pilot looks like he's about 19
i'm officially old that I think the pilot looks too young to fly
me: is he cute?
maybe he is copilot
Vicki: DANA. 19 years old.
he is cute.
me: well he can't possibly be that young if he is a pilot, which means he is at least like 22, which as far as I am concerned is still within my acceptable dating range
Vicki: okay. i see that making sense
me: I'm not ashamed of being a tiny bit of a coug
Vicki: yeah. you're sugar mama.
me: not yet
they just released the budget for next year...$101,000 !
seriously? for one year?!?!?!
Vicki: but if they get you now, they don't actually seem like a golddigger.
me: haha
Vicki: Wait. That's your TUITION?
me: they will have to put up with a lot to get the final payout

I attest, it was a hilarious conversation. After we finished, I caught sight of the left hand. WEDDING RING. On a 19 year old. We have a lot of catching up to do, sugar mama.
