But before that, the D2 class had to finish the last rites of our second year.
On Wednesday, we had our "Tie the Knot"/Slide Into Clinic picnic. We performed this cheesy little marriage ceremony between clinic "spouses" complete with exchanging of the ring pops. We even had a wedding cake that everyone posed in front of, traditional wedding style, like this...
My partner and I wanted to do something a little bit different however. Everyone was just taking a picture in front of the cake, so we thought it would be fun to take slices and feed it to each other. The couple two ahead of us in line had the same idea. Jerks.
So Mindi and I had to come up with a new idea on the quick. So we did this...
The best part was that people didn't know we arranged it ahead of time. They kept saying, "you better run...she is going to be PISSED". Except she wasn't. That is the sign of a true friend. They will let you shove cake in their face as part of a joke. Afterwards, there was a giant inflatable water slide. (I did that last time, remember?) I was feeling pretty lazy, so I passed on water slide fun this time. Instead I played with Allie's new dog that she brought to the picnic.
Yesterday was an oral surgery lab in which we learned how to suture. I have some suturing experience (I sewed up rats in the lab this summer, remember?), so I wasn't as excited about it as my classmates. But it was pretty funny to sew up meat. We got a bunch of chicken breasts and were allowed to practice. I didn't take any pictures of our chicken, but some of my classmates did. Once we were done, they looked like this...
Afterwards, Monica (who had brought her grill to class) took a bunch of them and cooked them up. From what I hear, some students and professors ate them. Even though I know they were perfectly safe to eat (we used all sterile instruments, but the germs would have cooked off anyways), I did NOT want to eat sewed up chicken. Luckily, I had a lunch meeting so I had an excuse to stick with the turkey sandwich I had packed for that day.
Today was the very last day of class for the quarter, and apparently it was ortho day. We had a few hours of lecture in the morning about wires, elastics, and retainers (a total snooze-fest), but afterwards we had an ortho lab. I gave Dexter braces. That was kind of fun.
Now I am entering the worst part of the quarter: weekend-long study fest to prepare for finals week. Ugh. But it also means one more week until break and I am home sweet home!
