1. I now have an aloe plant! And this is how I got it...
Last weekend while cooking dinner, I managed to spill boiling water on my foot, thereby giving myself a second degree burn on the top of my foot. It has been quite painful and wearing shoes isn't the greatest feeling. However, while in the clinic, it is mandatory that we wear close toed shoes. Hence, my poor little tootsie has been all wrapped up in a tennis shoe and feeling pretty miserable. While trolling the clinic yesterday, I removed the shoelace from my left shoe and let the tongue flop about to give the top of my foot some rest, because it was hurting pretty badly. A lot of people commented on my strange footwear choice, including one of the PAs in the endo suite. Once I explained about my foot, she mentioned that I use should use aloe juice from one of the plants in my yard (because apparently they are everywhere). When I mentioned that I did not have a yard, nor an aloe plant she offered to bring me one from her garden. And so she did! It was really thoughtful of her. She even showed me how to open the leaf to get the good part of the plant. And then I taped an aloe leaf to my foot. So far, it has really helped my foot feel better. I just stopped at Home Depot to get some dirt and a pot for it. Hopefully my new little plant grows big and strong. (Also, no laughing at my weird watering job. Aloe plants are like cacti. Too much water can kill them. Hence, I did only put enough water in there to get the dirt to stay. And the flash reflecting off the wet dirt made it look funny. And no laughing at the fact that the plant is not centered in the pot. It has a really long, thick root that sticks out sideways. I couldn't fit it in the pot any other way.)
2. I received a compliment today.
A new patient that I had today told me after his appointment that he thinks I will be a very good dentist. It really meant a lot to me. Hopefully I am doing something right.

Your new patient is right, you WILL make a very good dentist!
