right now I'd rather be...

Right now, I'd rather be in Evanston, IL.  This weekend is homecoming and the big parade and pep rally are going on as I type.  According to all the facebook status updates, a TON of my friends are there this weekend.  I really wish I was too.  I want to be at the pep rally.  I want to see Drumline Serenade.  I want to see my college friends.  I want to go to the Celtic Knot on a Friday evening.  I want to feel fall and the cold weather.  I want to watch the 'Cats put the hurt on Penn State at Ryan Field (seriously guys...we are 2-4 so far this season...you owe me).  But since I am stuck in the desert, I can't be there.  Thankfully I have youtube; it makes missing homecoming a little bit more bearable.

The music department is great about posting marching band videos online.  This video got posted recently.  It was tradition for the entire marching band to watch this video every year during band camp.  It's amazing how much things have changed since 1960.  (Seriously, take the time to watch the entire 20 minute video.  It is well worth it.  My work study job as uniform manager is featured at about 10:40.)

It's even strange to think about how things have changed since I graduated NU.  The band now has new uniforms and new pre-game drill, as evidenced by this video.  (I LOVE the new uniforms!)

Either way, I'll still remember homecoming when it looked a little something like this.
