Here are 2 articles for your reading pleasure. No time for lengthy commentary today because I have a midterm in 12 hours, but you deserve a little somethin' somethin' from this blog today.
45 Places to Go in 2012
First of all, it would be nearly impossible to make it to all of these places in a single year. You would pretty much have to be a retired millionaire to have enough time and money to visit all of these places within a single calendar year. Secondly, I am mildly embarrassed that I have only visited two of these places! I went to #14 when I was little. I was too young to remember it, but will hopefully be returning this summer for a pediatric dental conference. I went to #17 last year and it is by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and will probably remain one of my favorites places ever. Numbers 1, 4, 8, 10, 16, 23, 27 and 41 have pretty much always been on my list, so maybe I will have to check one of them off in 2012.
Nobody Wants a Chubby Corpse
Yes, that is really the title of this article. Apparently my school didn't get the memo about weight restrictions for donated bodies, because my cadaver was probably close to 5'4" and 250 lbs. As much as I was (and am) grateful for her donation, it was exceedingly difficult to search for delicate nerves and vessels beneath thick layers of fat. It also took at least 4 students to sit her upright and rotate her to access different parts of the body. So, as much as it is difficult to explain to mourning families and generous planners, I fully understand the need to turn away obese people from donating their bodies to science.
