So I had all these big plans to finally write the blog update that is long overdue. You know, the one that details all my travels since November, making me sound like a true jet-setter (hah!).
Then I got distracted by Pinterest. Sorry.
But I eventually started to feel guilty about not writing anything on my blog. So now I will attempt to get rid of my guilt by writing a few short random things and call it a blog post. Yeah. That sounds about right.
Friday night, I went to a paint your own pottery place with Brynn. I painted a tray and I think it turned out pretty nice. (Photo to come soon. Right now it is trapped on my cell phone.)
Sunday I went to the dollar theatre with Allie. We saw "Real Steel" with Hugh Jackman. It was all sorts of terrible and wonderful at the same time. It was so fun to go and laugh about how goofy the premise of the movie was while simultaneously admiring how good Hugh's tush looks, even in baggy sweat pants.
I spent a portion of a B&N gift card I received for Christmas. The next books up on my reading list are:
-"Island Beneath the Sea" by Isabel Allende
-"Gardens of Water" by Alan Drew
Today one of my patients brought me a birthday card and some hand-knit washcloths. (I didn't even tell her it was my birthday soon!) They are super adorable: pink and green. I seriously adore this patient and her husband. I'm certainly going to miss them after I graduate.
Yesterday, school really got under my skin and put me in a very bad mood. (It's kind of a long story, but I wasn't the only member of my class that was pretty upset by situations and comments made by faculty.) Today, I had a very good day at the clinic. I received some really nice compliments from Dr. M, who is notorious for having ridiculously high standards. He is also known for totally busting your chops in front of patients, and asking all sorts of detailed questions. (For example, today's questions included: What is the half-life of hemoglobin? What does the HbA1c test measure? What are the 3 common endodontic diagnoses and in what situations should they be applied? In case you are curious, the answers are: 120 days; glycosolated hemoglobin as a measure of long term diabetes control; reversible pulpitis, irreversible pulpitis, and necrotic pulp.) Apparently, not only did I survive the inquisition, but impressed Dr. M enough to warrant some praise. I can't believe how I can be a jaded, cynical dental student on Monday to a confident, happy student on Tuesday. This place totally toys with my emotions.
And on that note, I am headed to bed. I have tomorrow morning off, so I totally plan on sleeping in. Unless someone invites me to breakfast (preferably at the Good Egg...or Hot Bagel). Then I might get out of bed before 11 AM. Maybe.
Not likely on the breakfast! Remember when you were little and you left for school in the morning what I always said to you? "Use your smarts" See you showed him....Lol...proud of you, don't be intimated you got this.
