I just registered for my licensure exam. It cost $2,085. ::shudder::
For the past few months, I have been in denial that I am a 4th year dental student that will be graduating in 306 days. There is SO much I have to accomplish before that happens. NBDE Part II (2 day computer exam costing $390). ADEX given by NERB (3 day exam with written, simulated, and patient based portions costing $2,085). 20 different graduation requirements known as "competencies" (currently, I've completed 3 of them). All this is in addition to seeing patients all day every day, going to class, and passing all my midterms and exams. Oh yeah, and I'm supposed to be a teacher/mentor/good role model for my D3 partner. And at some point, I should figure out where I am going to live and find a job. And I'll eventually need to apply for those jobs.
It's quite a tall order, which is why I've been denying that it has finally come time to really get my butt in gear. Ignorance is bliss. I'm not really a D4 if I don't want to be, right? But the fact that I just had to depart with a large chunk of my summer quarter budget in order to meet a registration deadline was the wake-up call I've been dreading.
Looks like I will be spending the weekend with my new set of dental decks...by the pool...because a little sunshine makes the dullest topics slightly more tolerable. Hopefully.
