I currently live on the surface of the sun. We haven't had a day less than 105 degrees in forever. (Well, other than the 4th of July, when it rained and was a pleasant 87 degrees. I LOVED it.) The high today was 114 degrees. I forgot how much I hate Arizona in the summer.
It is so hot you can't do anything.
It's too hot to go to the pool. Seriously. You can't even read a book outside. The heat will melt the glue in the binding and the pages will fall out. Mindi and I have ruined several books and magazines this way.
It's too hot to go for a drive. There are no trees to park under for shade. Tinted windows and sun shades make no difference in this heat. I visit a specific grocery store in the summer because they have covered parking.
You walk around in clothes that are constantly damp from your sweat. Ever heard of swass?
You get headaches and stomach aches from the dehydration. Gatorade and Excedrin become your tools for survival.
It's miserable. I just ran the trash outside and was assaulted by a wave of hot air. It's 10:15 PM and 103 degrees. My air conditioning bill is going to cost an arm and a leg.
I do feel sorry for the heat wave hitting the rest of the country. The humidity combined with 100 degree weather must be awful. But you will get relief. It will pass in a few days or maybe a week. I am stuck with this until October. OCTOBER!
OH the many books I've ruined! But how can anyone resist reading by the pool?
