Here are a few random things I have been meaning to write about. This might seem redundant (hint: I'm going to write about the AZ heat and the Olympics again), but life has been a little boring lately.
It's still ridiculously hot out. I sometimes feel that people won't believe me or perhaps think I am exaggerating. I'm not exaggerating and I have photographic evidence (now that I figured out how to screenshot my iPhone).

The AC was keeping my apartment 40 degrees cooler.

Check out the time stamp. 11:35 PM?!?!

In AZ, they map heat instead of rain. It's so hot it is white! Seriously, white hot?

TRUTH!
Oh my gosh, I can't wait to go home tomorrow. My mom keeps telling me that it "will be a little cooler"during the family pool party on Saturday. She almost sounds a little disappointed, but I think the forecast of 72 degrees sounds wonderful. I can't wait to sleep with my windows open, listening to the wind through the trees.
On a completely unrelated note, now that the Olympics are over, I am starting to realize how many bad shows are on TV. Last night, I caught myself watching "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" on TLC. It was simultaneously so good and so bad that I couldn't turn it off. But I digress...back to the Olympics. I was perusing the interwebs and I found an
interesting page that documents old Olympic venues that have fallen into ruin. To me, it seems like such an honor to be a host city for the Olympics that I am surprised that better care is not taken of all the venues that cost millions to build. When I travelled to Salt Lake City last November, there were signs of the 2002 Winter Olympics everywhere, from the logos on the manhole covers to the ski jumps towering proudly over Park City. The state of Utah was proud of their Olympic heritage and worked hard to turn it into a tourist attraction of sorts. Evidently, other cities have not been so lucky (or don't care). Maybe I am a bit of a sentimental sap, but if I were an Olympian, I would be really sad to see that happen. Here is a place filled with so many happy memories turned into a sad, decrepit shell. The saddest story is that of Sarajevo, host of the 1984 Winter Olympics. Due to the break-out of war just a few years later, most of the venues were damaged in the fighting and left to decay in the woods once the war was over. I
found a blog from some people that traveled to the old Olympic sites in Sarajevo. It was an interesting read, with some weird photos. It's just very sad. I hope that the same fate does not occur to London or any other future Olympic venues.
