good news all around

Today is a good news kind of day.  (Thank goodness!  I needed one of those right about now.)

Good news #1: I am a published author!

A project that I worked on in the rat lab a few summers ago was published in the peer-reviewed journal, Gender Medicine, this month.  I had no idea they even submitted it or that I was included as an author, so it was a very pleasant surprise to receive a copy of it in my inbox this morning.  It's 15 pages of pretty technical jargon, so I'll only post some screenshots of the highlights here.  If you are interested in reading the whole thing, let me know.  (It costs $31.50 to order a copy online.)

Hey look, we're on the cover!

They spelled my name right, so I can overlook the fact that my degrees are wrong.

What a nice little section at the end talking about everyone's hard work.
Good news #2: Lauren got a job!

So I might be taking some of the excitement out of her sharing the good news herself, but since she doesn't have a blog, I guess she loses out.  Lauren has been working as a temp at Abbott for about 2 years now and finally got hired on to a permanent job in the legal department.  Hooray for being eligible for benefits!  Way to go Lauren!

Good news #3: The Wildcats are 5-0 AND nationally ranked (#24).

Let's hope being a nationally ranked team (for the first time since 2008) isn't the kiss of death as the 'Cats square off against Penn State this weekend.
