sometimes you do what you gotta do

So last night I tried another new recipe, this time from Allie: chicken satay with peanut sauce (yum!).  One of the ingredients in the peanut sauce is coconut milk, which I have never ever used before.  I only used about half of the can in the peanut sauce, so I had to get creative tonight to use up the remaining coconut milk.  (Because let's face it.  I am a poor student that shouldn't let anything go to waste.  I get excited over free meals.  Last week contained 1 free lunch.  This week, I get a free lunch and a free dinner.  Score!)  I decided to try and make a piña colada type smoothie with frozen pineapple and leftover coconut milk.  The problem was, I added a little too much pineapple and ran out of coconut milk.  The blender did not have enough liquid to be able to mix the smoothie.  The only liquid left in the fridge was water and rum (and vodka and some wine).  Guess which one I added to my smoothie.  Rum.  On a Monday night.  When I should be reading about FPDs (aka bridges).  Because I am going to redo someone's bridge (in the esthetic zone!) first thing tomorrow morning.  But sometimes, you do what you gotta do, to make a good smoothie. Even if it is a Monday night and you feel like a total lush.  Good thing is, there are always friends available to make you feel better about your drinking habits...because they might be drinking while studying for our Special Needs class final on Thursday.  For example...  (Names have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent per their request.)

Tina Lynn:
I have enough vodka in my one drink to make 3 normal drinks lol
 me:  ha
you would
but I suppose you deserve it after today
TL:  Pretty much straight vodka :)
Thats what I'm telling myself anyway
 me:  ha
with a splash of sprite
probably not even a full can
 TL:  Barely
me:  and so close to bedtime
the ultimate nightcap
TL:  And while studying special needs...I have a special need it's called booze
 me:  haha
that might be blog worthy
 TL:  For sure
Just change my name...doesn't look good to AA if I'm caught drinking :D
me:  well I could...but I am probably too buzzed to come up with anything more creative than Cindy, and I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be a secret to anyone

(Also, please realize that we were just kidding people.  I can only imagine some of you readers out there freaking out that school has driven me to the bottle.  Don't worry, it hasn't...yet)

In other news, this weekend was pretty fun.  I went with Allie, Monica, and Brynn to go see the not-so-new Harry Potter movie on Friday.  I used a free ticket that my sister gave me, and I took great delight in telling her so.  She thinks Harry Potter (and pretty much every other fantasy movie) is really stupid.  So it was fun to razz her a bit about her "treating" me to HP7-2.  On Saturday, I went with Mindi to help our friend Kim make a decision about a wedding dress.  She had already purchased one dress and had come across another one that she liked also.  While both dresses were gorgeous, the second one had just a bit more "Kim-ness" in it.  Afterwards, we went to lunch at Oreganos, one of my all-time favorite restaurants.  (When you come visit me in Phoenix, we will definitely eat here.  I've never come across someone that didn't LOVE Oraganos.)  That evening, a group of us went bowling in downtown Phoenix to celebrate Krystin's birthday.  The bowling alley was called Lucky Strike and was more like a club/trendy bar with a few bowling lanes thrown in.  It was great fun, despite bowling one of my worst games ever.  Sunday was filled with laundry and a Johnny Depp movie I got on sale at Target.  (I never considered myself a huge Johnny Depp fan, but by golly is he a good looking man.  If you can handle a gangster movie filled with a little graphic violence, I recommend Public Enemies.  It is a true story, and very good...made better only by the fact that is stars Johnny Depp AND Christian Bale, two very fine looking men.  Be still my heart.) And then I got up this morning and went to clinic and did my first filling.  Hooray!  It only took 3.5 hours.  Sigh.
