I don't know what has been going on lately, but everybody and their brother needs teeth removed. In the last week alone, I have extracted 7 teeth across 3 different patients. I have another extraction tomorrow and one on Friday. It's crazy! That being said, I'm feeling pretty good about it all because I was able to "atraumatically" remove all the teeth without any assistance from my professor. I was able to pass both my oral surgery competency and urgent care competency, which are some of the big requirements for graduation. At this rate, I should start applying for an oral surgery residency!
I've also done some pretty nice fillings lately and gotten some really sweet compliments from my patients. Weeks like this make me feel like I will actually be able to do this whole dentistry thing.
If you read my previous post, I mentioned the story written by one of my patients, inspired by me and my partner. Here is the link if you care to read it. It's science fiction and the writer has a very creative imagination. That being said, the characters are pretty fair depictions of Tom and I (although I'm not completely sure I say things like "encrypted" and "freak out"). Enjoy!
Exciting plans for the coming week include my sister coming to visit! Maybe I will convince her to be a guest blogger. It would be nice to hear about her Arizona adventure.
